Topsail Island enjoys fairly moderate seasonal changes, with temperatures rarely below freezing in the winter, and cooler temperatures on the Island in the early summer than what you will find a few miles inland. The gradual changes of temperatures are due largely to the cooling and warming effects the offshore waters have on the island breezes. Often you will see as much as 5 or even 10 degree differences between on and off-island temperatures during the Spring and Fall.
Average temperatures on the Island are above 70 degrees beginning in late March and continue through early October. This creates about a six month window for the vacation rental season, with some of the best weather often occurring in May and September, thanks to average temperatures in the upper 70′s and low 80′s during those months.
